Saxofonist Raaf Hekkema presenteert de complete werken voor saxofoon solo van Sigfrid Karg-Elert, die stilistisch zowel Bach en barokdansen als dancehall en atonaliteit omvatten. Deze opname is het resultaat van een levenslange zoektocht naar de muzikale intenties van deze enigmatische, kleurrijke componist. Een betere ambassadeur voor dit levendige repertoire dan Raaf Hekkema, een van de meest gerenommeerde saxofonisten van dit moment, is nauwelijks denkbaar. Raaf Hekkema is een avontuurlijke Nederlandse saxofonist. Hij speelt voornamelijk eigen arrangementen en geeft wereldwijd zo'n 100 concerten per jaar. Dit is zijn eerste soloproject bij PENTATONE nadat hij Hidden Gems (2018), Dido & Aeneazz (2019), Bach's Musical Offerings (2020) en An American Rhapsody (2023) uitbracht als lid van het Calefax Reed Quintet.
