In Londen, in 1736, vierde het barokgenie Händel de kracht van muziek met zijn oratorium over Alexander de Grote, een van de grootste successen van zijn leven. Covent Garden was nooit zo vol als op de avond van de première. Voor deze originele Engelse versie verenigt Alfredo Bernardini de fantastische stemmen van het Arnold Schönbergkoor met zijn levendige Zefiro Barokorkest. De drie solisten Miriam Kutrowatz, Daniel Johannsen en Damien Gastl vertellen het eeuwenoude verhaal van hoe zanger Timotheus ooit de stemming van de grote Alexander wist te veranderen, door een wervelwind van uiteenlopende emoties op te roepen en zo de macht van muziek over politiek en oorlog te benadrukken.
